Tata Curvv EV: Affordable Price, Impressive Range, and Stylish Interior
The Tata Curvv EV is one of the most exciting electric vehicles (EVs) to hit the Indian market in 2024. With its design, performance, and features, it’s no wonder this SUV coupe is making waves. Whether you’re an EV enthusiast or just curious about this new offering from Tata Motors, this guide will help you know everything about the Tata Curvv EV.
Design and Look:
The Tata Curvv EV is a showstopper. The coupe design gives it a sporty and modern look. The front has a sleek LED light bar that runs across the width of the car, it looks futuristic. The charging port is cleverly hidden behind the Tata logo on the grille, it looks so clean and premium.
On the sides, you’ll see flush door handles which look cool and also improve aerodynamics. The sloping roofline adds to the coupe design, though it does eat into the headroom for taller passengers at the rear. At the back, a full-width LED light bar and a faux skid plate complete the look. The Curvv EV comes in 5 colours so you can choose one that matches your style.
Performance:
Under the bonnet (or rather under the floor), the Tata Curvv EV packs a punch. It comes with two battery options: 45 kWh and 55 kWh. The 45 kWh version gives 150 bhp, and the 55 kWh version gives 165 bhp. Both versions are smooth and responsive to drive thanks to the electric motor’s instant torque.
The 55 kWh version can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds, it’s quick off the block. It has a top speed of 160 km/h which is more than enough for Indian roads. The car has three driving modes—Eco, City, and Sport—so you can choose how you want to drive. Eco mode is for saving battery, Sport mode is for full power of the motor.
Features: Loaded with Tech
The Tata Curvv EV is loaded with features to make it a pleasure to drive. Inside you’ll find a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There’s a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster that displays all the information in a crisp and clear manner.
Other highlights include a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and a 9-speaker JBL sound system that sounds great. The car also comes with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) which includes features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and forward collision warning. These features make driving safer and more convenient.
To make things even more convenient, the Curvv EV has a gesture-controlled tailgate, wireless charging, and ventilated front seats. It even has a 360-degree camera to make parking a breeze. Tata has also included Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging so you can power other devices or even charge another EV.
Price and Variants:
The Tata Curvv EV is available in multiple variants to fit your budget and needs. The base 45kWh variant starts at ₹17.49 lakh and the top-end 55kWh variant goes up to ₹21.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
There are five variants: Creative, Accomplished, Accomplished+ S, Empowered+, and Empowered+ S. Each one has a different set of features so you can choose the one that suits you. Whether you’re looking for a budget option or a fully loaded one, the Curvv EV has got you covered.
Battery and Range:
One of the biggest worries with EVs is range but the Curvv EV doesn’t disappoint. The 45kWh battery has a claimed range of 502 km and the 55kWh battery can go up to 585 km (as per ARAI certification). In real-world conditions, you can expect around 350 km and 425 km respectively which is still impressive.
Charging is also easy. With a 70 kW DC fast charger, the 55kWh battery can go from 10% to 80% in 40 minutes. If you’re charging at home with a 7.2 kW AC charger it will take around 8 hours to fully charge. The car also supports charging from a standard 15A wall socket though it’s slower.
Competitors: How Does It Compare?
The Tata Curvv EV competes with other electric SUVs like the MG ZS EV and the Mahindra BE 6. The MG ZS EV is priced slightly higher at ₹18.98 lakh but doesn’t offer the same features or range as the Curvv EV.
The Mahindra BE 6 is a new entrant and has some unique features like an augmented reality head-up display. But it’s expected to be priced higher than the Curvv EV so Tata’s offering is the more affordable one.
Is the Tata Curvv EV Worth It?
The Tata Curvv EV is an all-round electric SUV that offers style, performance, and practicality. Its competitive pricing, long-range, and feature-packed interior make it a strong contender in the EV space.
